Dear Barker Families,

As we reach the midpoint of the school year and look ahead to the holidays, this is a wonderful moment to reflect on the incredible learning, growth, and connection happening across the District. From September to now, our buildings have been full of curiosity, joy, determination, and the unmistakable spirit of being Stronger Together—many voices, one heart.

Across the District, our students have embraced challenges, discovered new passions, and strengthened the habits that support academic success and positive classroom citizenship. Our staff have been unwavering in their commitment to high-quality instruction and to building supportive, student-centered environments. Our families and community have continued to lift our students through encouragement, involvement, and partnership. Together, we have set the tone for a strong, uplifting school year… THANK YOU!

In our elementary classrooms, learning is lively, hands-on, and rooted in the Science of Reading and math best practices. Students are building foundational skills, collaborating in centers, practicing independence, and proudly sharing their learning with classmates. Whether exploring literacy, solving math problems, conducting experiments, or engaging in project-based tasks, our young learners are flourishing.

At the Jr.-Sr. High School, students are diving into rigorous coursework, rich discussions, and engaging team-based learning. In their classes, students are solving authentic problems, analyzing complex texts, designing and creating, and strengthening their ability to communicate and collaborate. Our teachers continue to elevate instructional practice, providing opportunities for students to think deeply, talk with one another, and take meaningful academic risks.

Beyond the classroom, Barker students have shined through athletics, music, art, clubs, and leadership activities. Our fall athletes demonstrated grit and sportsmanship, representing Barker with pride. Art students produced beautiful and thoughtful work, and our musicians have been preparing for winter performances that bring our community together each year. Student groups continue to lead service projects and schoolwide initiatives that build community and give students a strong voice in shaping school culture.

None of this would be possible without the dedication of our faculty and staff. Their commitment to student growth, continuous improvement, and building warm, inclusive learning spaces is evident every day. From teachers and staff members—our team plays an essential role in making Barker a place where students thrive.

We are equally grateful for the support of our families and community partners. Your presence at events, your communication with teachers, and your ongoing encouragement make a profound difference in the lives of our students. Barker is strongest when we work together, and this fall has once again shown what a powerful team effort education truly is.

As we look ahead to winter and the second half of the school year, we do so with optimism and pride. There is so much to celebrate already, and even more to look forward to. Thank you for your continued partnership and for believing in our students and staff.

We wish you a joyful, restful, and meaningful holiday season. May this time be filled with warmth, connection, and moments that remind us of what matters most.

Happy Holidays, and thank you for being part of our Bulldog family.

Warmly,
Micaela M. Love, Ed. D.
